Parents also showed their support towards the
environment and India by writing their pledge on
the Pledge Tree. There was a display of special
interest on historical facets of India on the basis of
materials or collections contributed by parents.
Funfilled activities such as sing and dance along
gave a chance to the parents to shake a leg to the
peppy bhangra numbers and rejoice being a part
of such a nation.
The cultural Program was presented in two slots,
one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
Overall 15 dance, yoga, orchestra and musical
choir presentations enthralled the audience. The
colourful dances from different regions presented
the soul and soil of India. The dance of Maharashtra,
Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana and western
dance were a visual extravaganza, and the
Indian and Western choir was as soulful as it was
harmonious. The symphony of ancient and modern
was enthralling when the acrobatic young Dispsites
presented a fusion of aerobics and yoga. Indeed,
the entire event was a symphony in sound and
colour. Each of the dances had a minimum of 85-
90 dancers, and the synchronization was a result of
hours of rehearsal and practice. The showstopper
of the day was the dance and sing along for
parents wherein parents sang and danced on the
peppy tunes. The school ground had never looked
so entrancing before!
The whole school together presented a scintillating
day that showcased all of India in one single day, be it
the rich culture and heritage, the growing economy,
the progress made in science and technology, India’s
gift to mankind – Mindfulness – not to mention the
colourful dance forms and mouth-watering cuisines.
In her welcome address, the school’s Principal, Ms.
Surjeet Khanna extolled the efforts of the students
who had worked for over weeks to bring to fruition
the beauty of India in all its glory. She thanked
the parents whose support and encouragement
added grandeur to this mega event. The chief
guest was fulsome in his praise appreciating the art
installations, the visual depictions, the knowledge
of the students in ‘making history come alive’. As a
former educationist himself, he noted and warmly
congratulated the efforts of the teachers who were
vigilant and alert at the background, ready to step
in whenever needed.
The main school ground had come alive with
reverberating music, informative conversations
and the enormous display of knowledge and talent.
On this day, it was the child who was the teacher
and the adult an avid pupil. What a sight it was to
see young and bright faces speaking confidently
to groups of adults, who were of the age of their
parents and even grandparents. Indeed, it was India
at its progressive and collaborative best!!
