Astronomy Day,
DPS Greater
Faridabad
#SPACE Club students of
the school presented their
well researched projects on
Astronomy Day which was a
part of the Annual Production
’India On the Move’. The guests
were welcomed by the club
members who dressed up as
Astronaut and Alien. Watching
both of them dance together
was fun for all. There was an
excitement amongst the visitors
getting their selfie clicked with
alien Jaadu ET and astronauts
Sunita Williams and Rakesh
Sharma.
Inside the stall which was
depicted as Indian Space
Capsule, the visitors were
introduced to great ancient
Indian Astronomers such as
Aryabhatta, Bhaskara etc. They
were also clarified the difference
between Astrology and
Astronomy.
Knowing about one of the
ancient astronomy observatory
Jantar Mantar situated at Delhi
and its various yantras from its
architect, Raja Jai Singh was
altogether a great learning for
all.
Complete story of ISRO’s
journey was well elaborated
by children who acted as Dr.
Vikram Sarabhai and Dr. APJ
Abdul Kalam. Our successful
missions like Chandrayaan and
Mangalyaan were explained
really well to the visitors by the
members of the club. Visitors
were surprised to know about
the upcoming projects of the
ISRO and Lunar Settlement
Design made by the club
members. The whole stall was
made dark with number of stars
hangings from the ceiling giving
170
of Space.
In the fun zone, various
astronomy activities such
as DSLR Astrophotography,
Meteor Attack, Constellation
making, Ring the planet, Sun
watch etcwere thoroughly
enjoyed by the visitors and
the winners of the activities
even got the free tattoos.
One of the most hit events
of the day was the launch
of hydrorocket by all the
eminent guests, Principal
Maám, Ms. Surjeet Khanna,
Head Mistresses. Ms. Ritu
Jain and Ms. Sanjana
Mahajan and Senior
Academic Coordinator,
Ms. Mamta Gupta.
Many children, teachers as
well as parents also tried
their hands on the launch
and were super happy
cheering for the launch
each time. Our young
Space enthusiasts were
appreciated a lot for their
confident presentation
in the event making it
memorable one!
It was a great experience for me to interact with eminent people
and families who visited the Astronomy stall and boosted up my
confidence. I enacted as Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and briefed the
visitors about his life and struggle which went into the making
of ‘Missile Man of India’. I would like to thank Principal Ma’am,
Geetika Ma’am, SPACE and school for giving me this opportunity.

An Experience with Enjoyment
Being an Indian is not just a matter of pride but a privilege for me as
it gives me an opportunity to explore diverse cultures with varied
colors. India on the move was an exhibition cum effort by DPSGF
to help me cherish achievements and accolades of my country in
astronomy. Dressed up as an astronaut and welcoming the guests
was a pleasure filled experience. Working in the astronomy lab
and preparing space shuttles with my guides Geetika Ma’am,
Pandey Sir and Prateek Sir made me feel like a young astronomer
and crafting these spacecrafts like Aditya Mission, Chandrayan 1
and 2, Mangalyaan, etc., evoked the budding astronomer in me.
Stalls and cultural performances were a great way to know more
about our India and feel proud to be an Indian. So, India on the
move was an enchanting experience.
