India is a unique nation with a rich heritage and diverse culture. Under the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ project, Class 1 organized “Know your States” booklet making activity in the month of July to enhance and evaluate students’ knowledge about the cultural diversity of Haryana and the partner state Telangana. Students were first taken on the virtual tour of Haryana and Telangana through a power point presentation where they witnessed the famous cities, monuments, festivals, etc. of both the paired states. Then they located Haryana and partner state Telangana on the political map of India in the booklet. They learnt about the state symbols, food, traditional costumes, folk dances and famous people of the paired states by knowing their names and pasting the related pictures in the booklet. Students created their booklet with immense feel and enthusiasm. This activity ignited the fire of imagination and sensitized students towards the two paired states. They also learnt to greet in both the state languages and danced to the tunes of folk songs of Haryana and Telangana. Overall, it was an enriching experience.
