My Favourite Song: A Journey Through the Melodies of Life
Music has always been a constant companion in my life, weaving itself into the fabric of my
experiences, emotions, and memories. It’s difficult for me to pinpoint just one song as my all-time
favourite because, throughout my journey, there have been several songs that resonated with me on
different levels. Each song represents a different phase, a different emotion, and a different part of
my life story. There have been times when I needed a push—a little something to keep me going. In
those moments, certain songs like ‘Ruk Jana Nahi’ became my anthem of motivation. With powerful
lyrics, this track has often provided the strength I needed to keep going. Whether it was during a
tough exam, a challenging day at work, or a moment of self-doubt, this song felt like a personal
cheerleader, perfectly syncing with my heartbeat and echoing my determination. The way the rhythm
synced with my heartbeat and the way the words echoed my determination—it felt like the song was
just written for me.
Life is a package of happiness and sorrows and certain songs have a way of wrapping you in a warm
embrace, offering comfort when you need it the most. These are the songs that I turn to when the
world feels heavy, when I need a moment to just breathe and let go. The gentle strumming of a guitar,
the soft hum of a piano, or the soothing voice of a singer can feel like a friend sitting beside you,
reminding you that it’s okay to feel, to heal. During these time ghazals by Jagjit Singh have been my
companion. And then, there are the songs that are just pure joy. These are the tracks that make you
want to dance, sing along, and just celebrate life. Whenever I needed a boost of happiness, these songs
have been my go-to. They’re the ones that I play during road trips, with friends, at family gatherings,
or during moments of spontaneous joy.
I think for many of us our favourite song often changes with different phases of our lives,
reflecting our evolving thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Music may not just be
about one favourite tune; it’s about those feelings. Each song we’ve connected with
over the years mirrors where we were at that point in time. These songs hold a
special place in our hearts, together forming the soundtrack of our life.
