The Explorer in Me

The Explorer in Me

It was the time of pandemic, boredom was the key feature of those days, schools were online, no friend of mine came down to play, all the activities were confined to the four walls of my house. For a six-year-old boy it was difficult to fight that boring boredom. I watched TV, read books but in the end, it was all boredom! boredom! boredom!

One Fine Day:

One day while watching Television I screamed “Carnivorous Plants”!!!…. uh..uh… I mean, I heard of carnivorous animals in my online class but what on earth are carnivorous plants?  Alas! I discovered something new. My curiosity led me to know more about these plants. How can I forget to tell you the story of me creating “Tim” and “Maggie”. So, in the summer vacations during the pandemic, my school had arranged an online workshop on a comic strip designing web-app-Pixton which somehow, I missed joining. My friends said that it was a unique app on which one can create cartoons and digital stories. I thought “cartoons, comics…let me also try it!”  I learnt the app with the help of my mother, my teacher and me doing hit and trial everyday with the app. It was all fun and gradually I started enjoying working on it. Finally, I created Tim and Maggie which I didn’t know at that time would be two main leads of my comic book. And the day came when I made my first comic book on the subject which fascinated me most at that time, “Carnivorous Plants”.

My Inspiration: Apart from my parents and teachers, what inspired me was my fight against boredom. It will not be wrong to say that boredom triggered me to look out for new and interesting ways of learning.

My learnings:Firstly, be flexible and adapt to change. Had I not adapted to the change in times of covid I would have never got an exposure of the digital world at such an early age. But obviously it’s not easy to accept change without the support of the family, teachers and your loved ones, therefore I dedicate this work to them.

Secondly, don’t fear getting stuck as it might be the beginning of a new journey in your life. I explore various other ways to do a task which results in new learnings.

Thirdly, manage your time well, spare time for research.I learn various activities like creating a comic book, creating an animated video, designing a website in my free time.
