It is a time for celebration, a time for victory of good over evil when the world sees the example of the power of good. Let us continue to celebrate the same “true” spirit. Happy Dussehra !!  

The ability to accurately identify shapes is a foundational mathematical skill. Moreover, it is quite rewarding for children because their world is full of shapes. Learning becomes much more fun and motivating when it is hands-on and associated with a festival. Keeping this thought in mind, the young Dipsites of class 2 did an interesting activity ‘My Ravishing Ravana ’. They celebrated the spirit of Dussehra integrated with the mathematical concept of shapes. After a captivating story session on Vijay Dashami followed by a short inspirational video, students explored the world of shapes by making their own Ravana using 2-dimensional shapes like circle, rectangle, and triangle. They drew the shapes and also used bright fluorescent sheet cutouts of the shapes. They completed the Ravana by creatively decorating it using sequins, bindis, glitters, stars, etc.  The primary objective of the entire show was to convince the students that no matter how intelligent a person is, his pride will be the reason for his collapse. Students  learnt that Ravana was very intelligent and his knowledge was equal to the knowledge of ten heads, which  are symbolic of his great wisdom. They understood how his single mistake overpowered and nullified his entire wisdom.

The activity not only revealed the artistic side of our young Dipsites but also their understanding of life lessons.
