Maslow before Bloom’s: Building Connections for Holistic Student Development
Delhi Public School-Greater Faridabad held a workshop on Maslow before Blooms on June 28, 2024 as part of Continuous Professional Development Series. The Resource Person, Mr. Chetan Jaiswal, CEO of MyPeegu, guided by the conviction that quality education is the greatest gift we can offer to our students, highlighted practical ways for educators to build meaningful relationships with their students, , and view them holistically in a supportive atmosphere.
The workshop “Maslow before Blooms” emphasized on identifying students’ basic and psychological needs before focusing on academic achievements. Guided by the Resource Person, Mr Chetan, the participants brainstormed on tools and techniques to prioritize Maslow’s hierarchy in the classroom to foster meaningful connections with students and prioritize their emotional well-being, to set the foundation for effective learning. – Understanding that future belongs to those with higher EQ rather than higher IQ
During the workshop, Mr Chetan Jaiswal reiterated the need for teachers to be attentive to students’ needs, to provide encouragement, and foster a growth mind-set for their role is not just being just transmitters of knowledge but also the catalysts and boosters of students’ confidence, to help their students achieve academic and personal excellence.
