Class IV -B resonated with the chants of “Radhe Radhe Japo, Chale Ayenge Bihari!” on the afternoon of 25th August, 2022 as a special assembly was conducted by the Dipsites of class IV-B to celebrate the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami. The Assembly was graced by a special guest , the master storyteller, Ms Simi Srivastav and our respected Principal, Ms. Surjeet Khanna. Festivals are characterized by colour, gaiety, enthusiasm, prayers and rituals…this rejoicing celebration was no different. The assembly began with the recitation of some popular shlokas from the Bhagwad Gita. Thereafter, the serene and melodious bhajan ‘Achyutam Keshavam’ sung by the choir, added solemnity to the occasion. This was followed by talking about the story of the birth of Krishna and how he became the child of Vasudev and Yashoda. Dipsites spoke on how Janamsahtami or Gokulashtami is celebrated as ‘Dahi Handi’ in Maharashtra! The audience was also told about the latest news updates. Poetic flavour was added with the recitation of rhymes in praise of the Lord. The students who were dressed as devotees, gently tugged at the string of Krishna’s cradle which carried an idol of Bal Krishna and distributed the prasad..
A heartwarming dance performance describing the eternal love bond won the hearts of the audience wherein little girls dressed as gopis and as Lord Krishna did the RaasLeela to music. The assembly concluded with a special loving message and blessings from our Guests of Honour on the significance of Janmashtami as a festival which encourages goodwill and togetherness.Everyone chanted together “Hathi Ghoda Palki, Jai Kanhaiya Lal ki”
