We at DPS Greater Faridabad believe that celebrating festivals in their true spirit goes a long way towards connecting students with Indian traditions. With this motivation and to experience the spirit of saawan, our Dipsites of class Pre-Nursery to Prep celebrated Teej with great fervour on Friday, July 29, 2022. Teej refers to the ‘Monsoon Festival’. This festival celebrates the bounty of nature, arrival of clouds and rain, greenery and birds, rituals and customs. The festival of Teej is synonymous with swings, mehandi adorned palms, flowers, bangles, bandhani dupattas and mouth watering ghewar.
The swings (saawan ke jhoole) of the school were decorated with marigold flowers for the occasion. The Little Wonders Wing wore a festive look. The little ones decked up in traditional attire celebrated the festival by singing and dancing on the traditional music. Students relished traditional delicacies which they had brought from home, especially ‘ghewar’. Mehandi and tattoo were applied on the hands of the students. They all enjoyed the festivities along with their teachers.
A Teej Mela was set up in the school courtyard with different stalls which displayed sweets, bangles, handicraft, mehendi and tattoos. It was a mesmerizing experience to watch our little dipsites wait enthusiastically for their turn to adorn mehendi and watch their dazzling faces glowing with joy and happiness after seeing the tattoo on their little hands. The event was a grand success and a learning experience for our students. The celebration brought our little Dipsites much closer to the beauty of Indian culture.
At the end of an exhilarating and entertaining day, the students were left with their hearts overflowing with love and delight.
