A comprehensive five-day workshop was organized at the HRDC-DPSS Admin Block, from November 21, 2023, to November 25, 2023. The English educators from DPS Schools across India convened to partake in this transformative event. The distinguished lineup of facilitatorsincluded Ms. Vanita Sehgal, Executive Director at HRDC, DPSS; Dr. Vikram Kapur from Shiv Nadar University, Greater Noida; Dr. Mitra Parikh Mukherjee, former Head and Professor of the English department at SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai; Dr. Susheel Kumar Sharma, Professor in the Department of English at Allahabad University, Uttar Pradesh, and Dr. Hutoxi Randeria, a Consultant at the British Council and IDP Australia. Their wealth of knowledge left an indelible imprint on the educators.

Educators not only immersed themselves in prose and poetry, but also honed their writing skills, and discovered the boundless possibilities of intertwining narrative and poetic language. Dr. S. K. Sharma delineated the distinctions between ‘meaning-carrying’ and ‘structure-carrying’ words, illustrating how their strengths or weaknesses in pronunciation hinge on context. He skillfully demonstrated word and sentence stress, correcting the intonations of the learners while infusing the sessions with humour and liveliness through his engaging anecdotes.

The five-day workshop was followed by the Valedictory ceremony which was graced by distinguished guests, including Chief Guest Mr. Shyam Bajpai, Vice Chairman Shri V.K. Shunglu, and Ms. Vanita Sehgal. The atmosphere resonated with spirituality as dignitaries and participant teachers united in simultaneous mantra chanting. This workshop marked a significant leap forward in cultivating proficient writing skills, contributing to an enriched educational environment dedicated to excellence in English language education.
