‘All the lights of the world cannot be compared even to a ray of the inner light of the self. Let’s merge ourselves in this light and enjoy the festival of lights.’

The Diwali celebrations at school often mean a festive look with diyas and lanterns adorning the classes. These activities permeate the school premises with an atmosphere of togetherness and hope. To enhance the festive fervor Chenab and Yamuna House of DPS Greater Faridabad, organized various Inter House competitions and activities throughout the month of October, 2022.

The festivities started with the welcoming of Goddess Lakshmi by making rangoli as it is auspicious through an Inter House Rangoli Competition for classes IX-XII.

The students of Chenab and Yamuna houses presented a dance drama ‘Hanuman Chalisa’. The story from the epic was showcased through elegant dance movements and impressive dialogues. The charisma and the energy of the students was captivating. The Principal Ms. Surjeet Khanna wished the students and beautifully explained the importance of Diwali festival.

Creativity is the innate ability to synthesize ideas into something new. Students have the ability to transcend traditional ways of thinking or acting, and develop new and original ideas. To harness the creativity, a craft activity for classes IV- VIII was conducted on 12th October. In order to attract the divine energy of the Goddess of wealth, the students made colourful ‘torans’ to decorate their classes and homes.

To impart the values of righteousness, courage, loyalty, dutifulness, wisdom  and the knowledge of the story of the triumph of good over evil, an Inter House Quiz for classes IV-XII was conducted on the epics ‘Ramayana and Mahabharata’. Chenab, Yamuna and Satluj house scored first, second and third positions respectively in the Ramayana quiz. In the Mahabharata quiz Chenab, Satluj and Ravi house scored first, second and third positions respectively.

It was a great learning experience for students along with the fun filled activities that made the festival even more special for Dipsites.
