Children learn better when they are able to connect their learning with the world around them.

With this aim, Dipsites of Class-I enthusiastically participated in an Integrated Online Project based on the most fascinating characters adorn by them – ‘Animals’. The project commenced on Wednesday, October 26, 2020 and ended on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

To begin with, a virtual group activity was organized wherein the students were divided into groups. They shared their opinions about the food habits, young ones, shelters and needs of the different animals. To add on to the excitement and hone the creative skills of the students, they were asked to draw these animals in their Art files using 2-D shapes.

An online storytelling session using finger puppets of different animals was conducted. The session was indeed valuable and distinct as it helped to ingrain values and enhance the listening skills of the young learners.

To enable our students to explore the amazing world of animals, another fun learning activity ‘My Imaginary Animal’ was designed. The students drew their own imaginary animal by using different parts of the animals like face of a wild animal, body and legs of a farm animal and tail of a pet animal. The students enjoyed giving their imaginary animal a fun and exciting name such as Licodo, Cisco, Elcod etc.

Integration of music and movement, made it very exciting for the students to learn about ‘Action Words’ during English class. The teacher talked about different movements of animals and the students enjoyed as they jumped like a kangaroo, flew like birds, swam like fish, etc.

To sum up, it was a satiating experience to see each and every student actively involved in different activities. This project provided our young Dipsites, a platform to think critically and creatively and become more compassionate and empathetic towards animals.
