Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee designated May 11 as National Technology Day in India to commemorate the historic Pokhran nuclear test conducted by the Indian Army in 1998 in Rajasthan. The next year, on May 11, 1999, the Industrial Commission organized the opening ceremony of National Technology Day. The event commemorated the country\u2019s dynamic industrial development, honoured the contributions of professionals in this sector and demonstrated their outstanding achievements. Since then, India celebrates National Technology Day every year. This year it will be celebrated on Saturday, May 11. Each year, a new theme is announced to inspire youngsters to explore technology and learn from India\u2019s inspiring scientific achievements.<\/p>\n
